Planning for Climate Change

Developed in partnership by the Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Washington State Department of Ecology, Washington Sea Grant, University of Washington Climate Impacts Group, and King County Executive Office.

Funded by a grant from the NOAA Coastal Services Center and administered through the National Estuarine Research Reserve Association.

Overview

This one-day workshop teaches local and state planners about climate change, as well as the planning processes and actions that can help their communities prepare for climate change impacts. Course materials, including presentations, handouts, and lessons learned, are available for a few regions through partner websites. These materials must be customized for other states or communities. The Center may be able to provide assistance creating similar workshops for other regions in the following ways:

  • Identification of climate expertise in your area
  • Guidance on stakeholder engagement methods
  • Customization of workshop design and process
  • Facilitation of the workshop

Please see the full description of this workshop at www.nerrs.noaa.gov/CTPIndex.aspx?ID=455.
